BUSINESS PROGRAMS

Warm Springs Indian Reservation has high levels of unemployment and few brick and mortar businesses. That said, there is a large shade-tree economy and many businesses operate out of their home informally.

During the pandemic, WSCAT gave out over 500 grants and we’ve estimated over 400 artists make art to sell or give away, so we know there are a large number of businesses and an interest in business. There are many challenges that hinder business development in Warm Springs including difficulty accessing land and an outdated uniform commercial code (UCC). While off reservation about 90% of businesses are privately owned and 10% are government owned, in Warm Springs the numbers are opposite (90% government owned and 10% privately owned).

  • Small Business Support

WSCAT offers group classes and 1:1 coaching to provide current and aspiring business owners with the resources they need to help their businesses succeed.

  • Youth Business Support

Each year, WSCAT provides opportunities for youth to get professional feedback on business plans and pitches, as well as field trips to gain firsthand experience. WSCAT provides a variety of youth business activities for participants to develop business plans, pitch their business ideas, and gain firsthand business experience.
