Filmmaking Program

Our youth workforce program has a growing focus on filmmaking. Our Youth Program Coordinator Luis “Brutis” Baez brought an extensive media and film background with him. He had been involved with filmmaking education prior to his employment at WSCAT along with Warm Springs Tribal Member LaRonn Katchia and Indigenous Actress Cara Jade Myers (Killers of the Flower Moon)

After three youth film workshops, LaRonn submitted one of the films (The Recipe) to the LA Skins Film Festival in Los Angeles, California. There, this youth film received an award and solidified WSCAT’s dedication to develop and grow our film program.

The Wyam Youth Center will host all of our future film programming which will include film internships, film club, film making education, video screening and in the near future, a youth film festival. Reach out to Brutis regarding film related opportunities (brutis@wscat.org).
