Joy Ramirez joined our small business class in 2021 with the hope of being able to start a business that would help get her kids through sports. As a mother of five and an enrolled tribal  member in Warm Springs, she wanted to stay close to home.

During the class, Joy worked with a business coach to walk through the steps needed to create a  business and marketing plan. Her key takeaway was the importance of marketing her business, putting it out there, and getting it into the community.

After a few years of working on her business, she was able to register “Ramirez Food Box” as a business in July 2024. Her Res-Mex food fusion business sells Mexican and Native American themed food. Co-owned with her husband, they make food in-house and attend events. Her most popular items include homemade enchilada sauce, ceviche, and huckleberry lemonade slushies. You can find them selling their food by canopy or with their food cart.

Joy and her husband are still expanding. They recently received a small grant to purchase better  signage, a canopy with their name on it, and to introduce new sales items. They are hoping to  purchase a food truck soon.

Stop by Res-Mex food fusion if you are ever in the mood for frybread, Pozole, enchiladas, banana splits, or strawberry banana waffles.
